Can I Install My Dock Myself?
Yes. Many Shore Side Docks systems can be installed and removed by the property owner. How easy the process will be depends on the size and configuration of the dock, shoreline conditions and where the system will be stored during the off-season.

What Tools Are Required to Install a Shore Side Dock?
Basic installation requires only a few common hand tools. Shore Side Docks also provides a tool for adjusting the height of the screw legs.
Useful tools may include:
- 9/16-inch and 1/2-inch wrenches or deep sockets
- Battery-operated impact wrench
- Battery-operated drill
- 24 mm deep socket for screw legs
- #3 Phillips screwdriver
- Flat-head screwdriver
- Hammer
- Waders
- Work gloves
Can I Leave My Dock in the Water During the Winter?
Shore Side Docks products are not warranted against damage caused by ice. Docks, lift systems and accessories that are not safely positioned away from the waterline during the off-season can be damaged by freezing conditions and moving ice.
Moving ice during a thaw can be particularly damaging. We recommend discussing seasonal storage and removal with your dealer based on the conditions at your waterfront property.
How Much Does Seasonal Dock Installation and Removal Cost?
Installation and removal costs vary by dealer, dock configuration, site access and the equipment required. Some providers charge by the hour, while others base pricing on the number of dock sections or the overall scope of the job.
Larger systems or waterfront properties requiring specialized equipment such as a barge or crane will generally cost more. Contact your local Shore Side Docks dealer for current installation and seasonal removal pricing for your property.
How Much Maintenance Does a Shore Side Dock Require?
Shore Side Docks systems are designed to require relatively little maintenance. The amount of care needed depends primarily on your dock configuration and decking material.
Natural wood decking may require seasonal cleaning or treatment, while composite and PVC decking can generally be cleaned periodically with water and an appropriate cleaner. Aluminum components should also be inspected periodically as part of normal waterfront maintenance.
Are Dock Surfaces Slippery When Wet?
Traction depends largely on the decking material and its condition. Composite, PVC and True Harbor decking products are designed to provide a solid walking surface in normal wet conditions.
Natural wood can vary depending on the type of wood, surface condition and treatment. As with any waterfront surface, leaves, algae, dirt and other debris should be removed regularly to help maintain a clean walking surface.
How Hot Does Dock Decking Get in the Summer?
Surface temperature depends on the decking material, color, air temperature and amount of direct sunlight. All outdoor decking materials can become warm or hot under certain summer conditions.

Will an Aluminum Dock Damage My Boat?
